A COLLABORATVE EFFORT
www.globalindianheritage.com is a collaborative effort to enlist all possible information about India and the Indians throughout the world.
This is the beginning and we really do not how things will play out and what final shape this website is going to take. But whatever will be done will be done through a collaborative effort and a possible consensus.
USING THIS SITE IS FREE
Using this site is free. For using this site there is no need to Login but to upload any material it is necessary to Login. Before Login it is necessary to Register first.
REGISTRATION
For registering on this site you should provide, First Name, Last Name, Email, Date of Birth, Image (not necessary), Address, City Name, Country Name, Web Link, About Me, Username, Password, Referral Mail 1 and Referral Mail 2.
Your Email, Date of Birth and Address will not be shown.
The site will use your Email to send you occasional mails and the Fortnightly Newsletter (when it is launched). The site may also send you birthday and other greetings. If you do not wish to receive any of the above, please send mail to info@globalindianheritage.com .
This site is not in the business of selling Emails, dates of birth and addresses and will not sell this information about you.
You can give one web link. This link will be shown on your profile.
In the About Me column you can describe yourself in up to 500 characters. It will be shown.
Your username will be unique. It may contain up to 18 characters.
There are two referral mails. Here you will put the mails of two of your friends or acquaintances. The site will send them a mail informing them that you have joined this site. The mail will be sent from your side. The text of the mail is shown. The site will not store these two Email addresses and will not send them any other mail.
Whenever any material uploaded by you is displayed on the site, two links will be shown. One link will show your Profile Page and the other link will show the website you have chosen to give its address.
PROFILE PAGE
Your Profile Page will show five things: 1. Name (Consisting of First Name and Last Name), 2. City, 3. Country, 4. Web Link and 5. About Me.
LOGIN TO UPLOAD
When you enter your username and password on the Login page, you will reach your Menu. This Menu will show your Profile Page and the following links:1. Home, 2. Logout, 3. My Profile, 4. Add Data, 5. Add Article, 6. List Added Data, and 7. Invite
Homelink will take you to the Home Page.
Logout link will log you out from the site.
My Profile link will show your Profile Page. This page contains your Name, Email, City, Country, Weblink, Date of Registration and About Me and the Image supplied by you at the time of Registration. There is also an Edit Profile link. Here you can edit all your entries except the Date of Registration. The changes will be immediately shown.
The other link is Add Data. When you click this link, you will reach the upload form. From this form you upload your material on the site.
Then there is an Add Article link. When you click this link a page containing the legend ‘Important Article Links Submission’ will open. Here you can place links to your articles on other sites and or blogs.
The List Added Data link will show the details of all the material you uploaded on the site. There are many links here which are self explanatory. You can edit your material here (but not delete). From the Gallery link you can place more than one image.
From the Invitelink you can invite people (five at a time) to join this site.
HOW TO UPLOAD DATA ON THIS SITE
To upload material on this site click the Add Data link. Moreover, to upload data on this site, first see the Home Page and check that material you wish to upload belongs to which Category. Every Category has many Sub Categories and each Sub Category has still more Sub Categories.
For example you choose the ‘Building’ Category. This Category has many Sub Categories. You can choose one of them from the drop down list. Now suppose you choose ‘Mosques’ Sub Category from the drop down list. There are many Sub Categories in this list. You can choose any one of them. If there is no Sub Category of your liking, place your material under the Other Sub Category and send a mail to the site on suggest@globalindianheritage.com for suggesting new Sub Category. The site will make new Sub Category as soon as possible.
As explained above, the Sub Category has still more Sub Categories which are known as Titles. You can choose any one of them. If your required Sub Category (Title) is not there in the drop down list, make one Sub Category (Title) in the box given on the right side (OR Suggest Title).
Then there is a link Headline. This is the headline of the material you have uploaded and will be shown on its top. It will also be shown in the List of Titles.
Then there is a box for a Weblink. You can place any web link here. This link can be the same as you placed on your Profile Page or a different one. It will be shown with the material you uploaded.
Then there is a box for putting the material. There is no limit on the size of the material. This box has a Text Editor also. Here you can choose your font size, font phase and many other features. Earlier we thought not to put the Text Editor as it will destroy the uniformity of the site. But it will give you the freedom to show your material the way you like. So let’s see what happens and whether this feature enhances the look and character of the site or not and what the users think about it. So depending upon many factors we would evaluate later whether to continue this feature or not.
HOW TO PUT IMAGES
The images will be put from the Gallery link. The images should be jpeg only and of the maximum size of 500*300 pxls. You can upload up to 20 images with your material. (Though the system can take as many images as you like but the site will take only 20 images and will delete the rest.)
EARNING OPPORTUNITY ON THIS SITE
This site proposes to provide an earning opportunity to its members. They can upload advertisements with their material. But please note that one advertisement will be allowed with four images. It means that place four images about the subject of the material and then one advertisement. Please also note that objectionable advertisements will not be allowed. The site is free to reject any or all advertisements and is not bound to allow any of them. An elaborate advertisement policy will be announced by the site later on after seeing that how the things play out.No advertisement will be allowed inside the body text of the material posted.
HOW TO ADD ARTICLE LINKS
To place article links on the site, click the Add Article link. When you click this link a page containing the legend ‘Important Article Links Submission’ will open. Here you can place links to your articles on other sites and or blogs. This page has three boxes: 1.Select Category, 2. Article Title and 3. Web link. First click the Select Category link. If your required Category is not there, select Other and send a mail to the site on suggest@globalindianheritage.com .
In the Article Title box write the title of the article. This title will be shown in the list. The title can have a maximum of 77 characters.
In the box Weblink put the web address. This is the address where you wish your reader to reach.
This page will show you all the articles titles/links which you have placed on the site. It will show their Category, Title and Weblink address. You can delete any article but can not edit. But there is no need to edit because if you wish to change some thing, first delete the previous entry and make a new entry. This will do for the edit.
You can place as many article links as you wish.
HOW TO INVITE
When you click the Invite link, a page will open. It has five boxes for Emails and one box for the text of the Email. Through this page you can invite your friends and acquaintances to join this site. The mails will be sent from your side. The site will not record these mails in its data base and will not send any mail in future from its side.
COMMENTS
Comments are an integral part of this collaborative effort. But only members can comment. Therefore, for making a comment, it is necessary to Login first. Your name will be shown with the comments.
SO PLEASE NOTE
So please note that any body can use this site for free. This site will add to its wealth of information through collaborative efforts. Those placing information on this site will not be paid anything. They, however, can place as many links as possible through putting more and more material and article links. They can also earn by placing their advertisements. The site will not charge them anything for these advertisements. There is no limit on the amount of the material to be placed on the site. You can also place as many article links as you wish.
AND
All images and text, including article links and comments will be checked by the site. The decision about allowing the same or disallowing the already allowed material rests solely with the site.
